News : COSAMP Open Day
cosamp writes"
COSAMP
Open Day announced for September 3rd, 2011
The College of
Sound and Music Production (COSAMP) today announced its inaugural Open Day for
student information would be held on Saturday, September 3rd, 2011
from 11:00am to 3:00pm.
Prospective students are
invited to attend the campus Open Day to learn more about COSAMP post-secondary
study courses. The Advanced Diploma study options on offer are aimed at those
participants wishing to gain future work placement in the Music Industry.
School leavers and mature age students are encouraged to apply for the limited
number of places available in the 2012 student intake.
Mr Kye Thomas, Director of
COSAMP, stated that the implementation of a unique “Industry Reference Group”
of Music Industry professionals was a groundbreaking initiative for the
college. The Industry Reference Group forms an expert panel of qualified industry
professionals who are available to advise and assist students in their
transition from study into employment in the Music Industry.
Mr Thomas also said that
COSAMP’s deliberately limited class sizes would result in far greater
student/trainer contact time than that offered by other training providers in
the industry.
Situated at 766a Hawthorn
Road in the bayside suburb of Brighton East, the COSAMP training facilities
offer students the opportunity to work hands-on with the latest music
production software in a boutique learning environment. Every student will have
access to a state-of-the-art digital audio workstation (DAW) during structured lesson
times and the chance to work in a fully operational commercial recording studio
facility attached to the campus.
Prospective students will be
treated to a series of practical demonstrations of industry standard audio
systems and software at the COSAMP Open Day, with the opportunity to try out
many of the activities in an interactive, hands-on format. Trainers and staff
will be on hand to answer questions and provide expert advice on entry into the
Music Industry via structured training. Representatives of the Industry
Reference Group will also be on hand to offer expert advice on career
development post-study.
COSAMP Open Day commences
11:00am on Saturday, 3rd September 2011 and bookings are essential
for studio tours. Applicants can visit www.cosamp.com.au to register their
attendance online or phone COSAMP on (03) 9592 4801 to arrange a timeslot.

News : Top Floor Climax - The Point of No Return
tfc writes"An alternative rock band releases their first EP The Point of No Return. As the title of the album indicates Top Floor Climax like to throw in a few bits of comedy into their songs, particularly in their featured song "Mother Nature Bring It On", they are sarcastically witty and have good original songs.
The lead singer Ben van Eijk is also the singer/song writer and keyboard player of the band, with mainly punk as his influence he produces catchy minimalist tunes through his fingers that mesh seamlessly with drummer Peter Stirling's progressive rock influenced beats.
You can hear their new EP at Bandcamp and become a fan on their facebook page. "
