News : The Preytells (WA) National Tour

noakes writes"THE PREYTELLS - FLOOD SONGS / JUNE SONGS National Tour

FLOOD SONGS/ JUNE SONGS  is the debut album by Perth indie phantasms THE PREYTELLS. The album's feature songs "Lord Hold My Hand", "Nowhere to Run" and "Shout" have been  played on RTR, FBI, Triple R and Triple J.

Fourteen tracks that invade the body and electrify the mind, FLOOD SONGS / JUNE SONGS is a blazing journey through the underworld of art-pop where each track differs from the last - one moment a golden pop song, the next a flood of shattering glass, blood curdling shrieks and doomsday drumming. The album showcases THE PREYTELLS' clear artistic vision and lands the band in the backyard of The Raveonettes and The Pixies, while smashing ELO into the Brian Jonestown Massacre.

THE PREYTELLS first hit the scene in 2005 winning the National Campus Band Competition and since then made appearances at major festivals (Southbound, St Jerome’s Laneway Festival), supported the likes of Little Barrie (UK), Oh Mercy and End of Fashion plus released 3 EPs, COULD I CHANGE YOUR MIND (2007), SHOUT / I’M SO SORRY (2008) and SACRAMENTO (2008).

“… a rich cross-pollination of pop smarts and artistic bravery.” – Xpress Magazine, Perth.
“Every so often you hear a record and just know that you’re hearing the beginning of something really special.”  – Drum Sydney
“The Preytells are definitely tight…dreamy pop melodies, mature guitar lines, and some good hooks too….It’s top shelf gangly pop!” – Vijay Khurana, Triple J

Media – Print : Beat Magazine's Band Bible - Out Sept 16th

kris1st writes"Beat Magazine's Band Bible  In shooting for the stars, we easily forget about the cloud-filled skies of Melbourne's booming music scene. A scene abundant with venues, independent and major record labels, gig promoters, tour promoters, distribution services and A&R types. Your own town is the first town you should be trying to conquer. Your own state is the first state where you can build a name for yourself. Having been at the forefront of the Melbourne music scene for over twenty years, we at Beat Magazine recognise the hardship, the trials, the tribulations associated with walking the path of lifting one's band's profile. So we’ve decided to try and help out.  The answer is the inaugural Beat Magazine Band Bible!!! So. What is it?  - A separate, full-colour magazine that we’re inserting into Beat  - It’s a square tabloid format, with high quality, fatter paper stock!  - A 35,000 copy print run.  - It will operate as a reference to local independent bands.  - It will be a constant music resource delivered straight to the mailbox of every band-booker, booking agent, manager, record label, distribution network, venue, cafe, club, pub, booking agency and radio station in Victoria.  Plus, obviously, it’s a great way to let thousands of Beat-reading punters know who you are, what your act is all about, and where to find you. Simply, for $350+gst you will get: - A full colour quarter page profile, where you’re able to also place a photo of your band. - All your relevant website, MySpace and contact details.  - The opportunity to shed some light on who you are and what you do in a widely-distributed format  - All the artists will be alphabetically listed  Release date is the 16th  of September (ideally so it sits on coffee tables through till summer).  So, don’t mess about… get in quick! Call or email Kosta on (mixdown@beat.com.au) or 9503 0420 to arrange your submission.
