Bands & Artists : Gentleman's Riot

GentsRiot writes"

“Banjo Patterson and Captain Blackbeard walked into a bar ... and out walked Gentleman’s Riot”

Melbourne-based bush-punk group formed in early 2007 and swagging around the Melbourne pub circuit for the last 12 months, Gentleman’s Riot is the natural result of colonial shearers drinking beer with pirates. It’s your classic Aussie campfire ballads imbued with a raucous punk spirit, amidst an eclectic medley of musical styles that ensure no two performances are quite the same.

Current line-up includes the gravelly yelling vocals of Hughie McQueen, hemi-demi-semi-quaver acoustic strumming of Dan Stewart, the roaring distorted electric rhythm guitar of Matt Phelan and the and polytalented rock queen Lauren Garcia slinging cello and clarinet.

Bands & Artists : Kristy Lewis and The Wretched

kristylewis writes"

Melbourne five piece perform haunting, emotive laments on their debut ‘The Stampede’. Strikingly beautiful melodies are weaved amongst gritty guitar, piano and violin. Recent reviews describe them as “a class act” showcasing a “dulcet and sultry lead singer with a starry, countrified backing band.” (BEAT mag).

Kristy Lewis and The Wretched have created their own sweet sound earning them support slots with the likes of Tim Rogers and Tex Perkins. Live, Kristy has been described as “something warm, spirited a little sassy, intoxicating, whatever it is can’t be taught, a formidable musician and a great songwriter” (Clare Bowditch).

CD LAUNCH 17TH AUGUST @ THE NORTHCOTE SOCIAL CLUB - a Sunday afternoon performance with special guests.

Bands & Artists : Buster Punter

busterpunter writes"Celebrated Melbourne punk poet "Hitch" aka Andrew Hitchell teams up with Melbourne guitar slingers Michael Birleson and Kenton Molloy (ex THE CLAPPERS) and heavy hitter Brent Lockwood (ex THE SPECIMENS) on drums to front BUSTER PUNTER. Buster Punter's sound moves between raucous noise and brooding darkness with a constant air of nihilistic emergency. From the initial ground shaking riff of the track “Jesus is coming” through to the noise saturated “Demented man on acid” there is a consistent air of authenticity about their music. Nothing ever sounds manufactured and every syllable, spoken, screamed and wailed is unmistakeably a piece of Hitch’s existential existence. As a live act Buster Punter is chaotic and completely unforgettable. Hitch forces himself upon an unassuming crowd, limbs flailin as he spews the poetic rants of a life of debauchery and heartbreak. Buster Punter brings forth a refreshingly rough blend of post-punk noise and neo beat poetry that clearly cannot be ignored. "

Bands & Artists : Pinstripe Acoustic

Trina writes"

Pinstripe have a theory "if it can be stirred into the Melting pot of acoustic rock , pinstripe can play it"

This is not just any 3 piece acoustic cover band, Pinstripe are a team of watertight professional musicians with an impressive combination of strong, dynamic vocal harmonies and stunning guitar playing that combine with Melbournes own vocal "powerhouse' and front "girl" Trina Gilchrist!

Playing a variety of songs & styles from recent chart hits to well known and often overlooked rock and pop classics, Pinstripe is an exciting & professional live experience, not to be missed!
