News : Buyer beware
strahany writes"saw this note from Venue music (SYDNEY) - thought the MELBAND community could benefit:
I AM GETTING WORRIED ABOUT THE AUCTION RIP OFFS
AUCTION SITES as you know I have written about auction
sites before but in the last few months the number
of FAKE guitars has been showing up is really alarming
They must think we in Australia are a lot of really stupid
GIBSON’S EPIPHONES FENDERS all the TOP guitar
brands. Its bad enough to get ripped off with a NO-NAME
brand but to get cheated and disappointed when you thought
you had purchased the real thing are actually criminal.
Now these guys who are selling this crap are usually in
CHINA and Hong Kong. Hiding behind e mail address
That they change often and the chance of getting any thing
likes a refund is ZERO
How can any body believe you can buy a Gibson or Fender
for starting price of .99 cents, But wait check the freight $400
usually what crap!!!!!
More importantly this is a blatant rip off and when the
lump of wood they call a guitar arrives there is nothing you
can do. You have done your dough, Also worse there are now Australian people buying the
rubbish and then reselling them on to the public on the
same auction site. Shame on them .Why don’t they go rob a
bank or something that takes more guts than stealing the
hard earned dollars from honest folk like this.
Be careful folks, no one with 1/2 a brain and 2 seconds
thought can believe you can buy a Gibson or Fender etc
for something like $3/400. It is B/S and you will be the loser
I saw an ad for a "BRAND NEW STANDARD
STRATOCASTER MADE IN MEXICO" "BUT the idiot put
PRODUCT OF CHINA in the ad
HOW DOES THAT WORK ? MADE IN MEXICO;
PRODUCT OF CHINA? DUH !!!!!!!!!!
STUPID YES BUT NOT AS STUPID AS THE POOR
DUMMY WHO BUYS ONE AND FINDS OUT ITS NOT REAL.
And cannot do anything about it
You have NO PROTECTION OR RIGHTS ON THE
AUCTION SITE AS THE SAY. BUYER BEWARE!!!!!
AND THEN WHEN I DID COMPLAIN TO THE AUCTION
SITE PEOPLE THAT THIS STUFF WAS FAKE ETC THERE
REPLY TO ME WAS
"WE DO NOT KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT THE PRODUCTS
WE ARE NOT EXPERTS AND WE JUST HOST THE ADS"
IN OTHER WORDS, TOUGH LUCK DUMMY !
BE CAREFUL BUY FROM AN AUTHORIZED FENDER OR
GIBSON EPIPHONE ETC! STORE THAT YOU CAN GET
SERVICE AND THINGS FIXED IF THEY NEED IT AND KNOW
YOU ARE GETTING THE REAL THING. PLUS THE GUITAR
COMPANIES STAND BEHIND THEIR DEALERS
THE FINE BRAND NAME GUITARS GO TO A HUGE
AMOUNT OF TROUBLE TO BRING THE BEST TO THE
MARKET .THE HIGHEST QUALITY THEY CAN AND EVERY
DAY THERE REPUTATION RIDES ON THERE PRODUCTS.
DON’T LET THIS CLEARLY ILLEGAL FAKE B/S COPY
BUSINESS RUIN 100"S OF YEARS OF GOOD GUITAR
MAKING .YOU WILL BE REWARDED BUY INCREASING
VALUE AND MORE IMPORTANT THE PLEASURE OF
PLAYING A FINE INSTRUMENT.
TAKE CARE BUY CAREFULLY DON’T LOSE YOUR HARD
EARNED MONEY TO PEOPLE WHO DON’T CARE AND WILL
RIP YOU OFF IN A FLASH KNOWING THEY ARE
PROTECTED AND HIDDEN BEHIND THE AUCTION SITEWEB
AND A BUNCH OF B/S NAMES THAT CHANGE ALL THE
TIME ANY TIME YOU SEE AN AD FOR SOME THING THAT
MAY BE A RIP OFF FEEL FREE TO ASK US WE HAVE 25
YEARS OF UNBLEMISHED SERVICE AND 100'S OF
1000’S SATISFIED CUSTOMERS .WE WILL TELL YOU THE
TRUTH. IF IT’S REAL NO PROBLEM

are those bands and solo artists who are currently either just starting
off and can’t afford studio time or haven’t got home recording
facilities. Not only that, but some performers tend to play better live
and so what better way to get your songs on a CD and enter the Musicoz
Awards at the same time?
“It’s cheap means of recording and it’s
a great way to hear how you sound live,” said Kimberley Hopkins,
Publicist for Musicoz. “It costs $25 per song to enter the Musicoz
Awards and like all entries, if you record a fourth song at Noise bar,
it’s for free. So in a nutshell, the recording is free and you enter
those songs into the Musicoz Awards. It’s that easy!”
entering the Musicoz Awards, artists are in the running to win over a
hundred thousand dollars in cash and prizes and industry opportunities
including instruments from Turramurra Music, mastering at Turtlerock,
production deals with Faultline Records, Tone Market and Central
Station Records (to name just a few). Plus other awesome prizes like
recording time at Trackdown, Velvet Studios, Mainstreet and Studio 301.

the Video Gig Guide allows indie fans, labels and venues to preview

News : Public Revolution get exclusive release of new songs by 26.
founder writes"Melbourne rockers 26 and online indie portal www.publicrevolution.com
have announced new songs Let Down and Friendly Fire to be released
exclusively through Public Revolution.com. The agreement comes in the
wake of their successful first album The King Must Die which received
widespread acclaim and airplay on JJJ, and netted the band thousands of
myspace fans. Self managed, 26 are one of the smart new breed of bands
taking full advantage of the internet to DIY their success to retain
full ownership and control of their songs, image, career and ultimately
"The internet now allows bands/managers to do their own
marketing and advertising which is really where Public Revolution
shines." commented founder Terry Church, "We designed the site to be
much more than just a free online store 'plug-in' for indie
artists/managers, it's true purpose is an advertising portal with
streaming radio, video, gig guide, and many places for artists to be
featured." Church said.
Singer and manager Nick O'donnell agreed
as to the internet's advantages by saying "Sites like myspace and
Public Revolution allowed us to organise our whole tour and sales
online. We chose Public Revolution because they're all about quality...
their mp3's are the highest at 192kbps and sell for 99cents, and they
don't allow just anyone to upload and join - you have to submit your
music and be invited." He said. "It's also nice to see some financial
reward for a change rather than give our songs away."
Let Down and Friendly Fire will be available exclusively through
www.publicrevolution.com for the entire month of July following their
coming tour which starts in Adelaide on the 13th of July and finishes
in Brisbane on the 20th July. For full details go to www.26theband.com
or www.myspace.com/26theband or look for them on
