Hi guys, been doing some research on said amp and wondering what the general word is from muso's on this forum. I've used a FM 212R as a trusty practise amp but looking to play gigs in the near future. Cheers |

Probably the wrong forum.
A super Reverb will be a step up in sound from your FM212R.
Good gigging amp and will have a great clean sound. |

| Indeed ! Try The Gear Page ; millions on that forum . Wrt your amp suggestion : it's a one trick pony that does clean and bright only . You won't get any character out of it . |

depends on your definition of character...
Derek Trucks gets plenty out of his... (given they are originals not RI..)
but all the same, they do break up when pushed.
if gigging with it - they're pretty heavy...
but great with pedals too... |

Done a lot of gigs with Super Reverbs old and newer.
On the positive side, they are big clear sounding amps that make any guitar sound good- take pedals well. Beautiful reverb and vibrato. Many hits were recorded over the years by guitarists AND bass players in the studio on Super Reverbs.
On the negative side- they sound best when cranked up in volume, and that may be too loud for a lot of places. They are on the heavy side and a might not fit easily into the boot of smaller cars.
If you have never had a big Fender like a Super Reverb or a Twin Reverb, then you need to do it once in your life
Many guys however go for a more practical Deluxe Reverb, and if you had a Deluxe and a Super, then I bet you would use the Deluxe most of the time. |

... and if you can muster the $, can't recommend Achillies Amps amps highly enough. Labros builds them here in the South East of Melbourne
http://www.achilliesamps.com/blackface-replicas
... and maybe consider a Master Volume modded Tweed Bassman. Was the 2nd best amp I have ever owned (best is my George Evans Sonique 50), but I've owned a lot of amps in my time (Marshalls, Mesa, Fender, Victoria, Bad Cat) |

Alas Luke , performing artist's stage equipment is anyone's guess as to what circuit/speakers/recording equipment you're listening to ...............
Original speakers whatsoever in tone/design are not what the RI has unfortunately . As for buying new BadCat , that first Achillies amp you refer to can't get 50 cents in the dollar secondhand on Gummy last month . |

I've got a '66 Super Reverb. Can't fault it on any stage. Likes pedals. Don't worry about buying 110v either. 500w step down tranny will work fine as long as the amp has a proper US 3 way plug. Earthing is a must. Some of these amps had the 'killer cap' in too so that should be removed. Good Tech will know what to do. |
