I think you're flogging a dead horse really. There are always going to be preferences when it comes to guitars, and this topic has been done to death on all the major forums.

Custom Shop is disappearing up it's own behind. on Facebook Marketplace there is a CS certified (it has bit of paper to say this with fancy lettering) "Closet Classic".
It features 2-point tremolo, head adjustable truss rod and other modern features so what makes it a "Closet Classic"?
Call me cynical but it certainly appears to me that Fender are simply adding cheap "case candy" [itself a cheap expression] and designations to add substantial dollars.
"Team built" - we couldn't be bothered to get anyone to put their name to this one, just have another bit of paper for $1k... _________________ Still after a tweed Precision case.
I know this is ancient but thought I'd chime in. I recently bought a Custom Shop and particularly a Closet Classic.
The whole point of the Closet Classic is to replicate at 40/50 year old guitar that's been in the closet. In the bass I bought, it was spot on.
I bought it for the bargain and not the need. I paid $2700 for an originally $5k bass.
It was absolutely on the money for what the Custom Shop were trying to replicate but honestly I sold it for a small profit and bought something that was tonally far superior and more versatile for 1/3 of the price.
The CS played amazing, sounded amazing and did exactly what you'd expect.
All in all, was it worth the extra money for the Custom Shop over a generic USA Fender. Absolutely.
Could I get a far superior instrument for less money? Yep.
