just because something was mainstream in the 80's and 90's doesn't mean they are not just as popular today. they are just not mainstream.

Nothing wrong with wanting to be a master of your domain. Some people choose not to push themselves further in the instrument, and just use the skills they have and make great songs. other like to for go song writing and achieve greatness, even if thats not possible.

the guitar solo is an idea of perfection on the guitar. Many "Shred"guitarists follow this idea of perfection, which of course will never be obtained, but is the fun part of playing the guitar.

blah blah blah

I love solos and I love great tunes. What a great couple they make together

I would have to firstly say I f**king love shred guitar or wanky solos ( yeah I was a 80s metal child ) But they have to fit the feel of the song & if the key changes a few times that can be dynamite or the Slayer Angel of Death duel solo thing just blows my mind Evil or Very Mad !!!! If it fits & it rocks I say f**king run with it Laughing I love steve vai but I preffer a song to have lyrics & then go to solo , or solo in intro then lyrics etc to much can be boring but in the right place @ the right time ..... It can be AWSUM !!!!!!!
